IT IS TIME, TO BEAT SWORDS INTO PLOWSHARES...

When Mother/Father God created the world before the Dawn of Time and Space, everything was in perfect balance. Then, according to the Hebrew Scriptures, Eve was tempted by the Serpent, ate the Forbidden Fruit, then gave some to Adam which he also ate. Their eyes were opened and they realized they were naked. After sewing fig leaves together, they tried to hide when God walked in the Garden of Eden. God asked them why, and Adam said Eve gave the fruit to him because the Serpent said to her that surely you shall not die, but you be like gods and live forever. God cursed the Serpent to crawl upon its belly and cast both Adam and Eve from the Garden, placing a flaming sword at the entrance, preventing their return. By the sweat of their brow they must till the soil and work the land to survive. Paradise was lost to them and the human family was corrupted by a sinful nature requiring redemption by God through his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. It would be four thousand years until the Nativity would occur in a Judean stable lighted by a unique star guiding shepherds from the fields and Wise Men from the East to see this child. Peace on Earth!

DE-CENTRALIZED CO-OPERATIVE ~ "NEW GLORY"

THE RAINBOW FAMILY OF LIVING LIGHT

The Rainbow Family has used the “New Glory” flag for many years. The canton of stars represents all of the constellations — united, or the U.S. depending on who you talk to. The stripes of many colors represent all of the tribes of the earth. The symbolism being that all of the different peoples or tribes can come together in peace and harmony. At least in a flag! And hopefully in person. The “Rainbow Family of Living Light”, also known as the “Rainbow Family” is an international, non-hierarchical, non-organized, loose-knit group of hippies. Ages vary from 1960´s flower power veterans to new-borns. All decisions are made by consensus. Anyone who cares about the earth and their fellow man is automatically a member. That includes you! Of course, membership lists are not kept, acceptance of a person is automatic upon that person showing up at a “gathering”. Sort of a hippie camporee! Or peace festival. National gatherings in the U.S. draw about 20 to 40 thousand people. It is not a gay organization. Gays are of course included, but as human beings, brothers and sisters, not as predominant or exclusive, or even excluded. Just more people. In about the same proportions as the general population — whatever that may be! — Kevin McNamara, 9 September 1999

DC: The Case for a Decentralized Cooperative Party in the United States

Ever since the Election of 1792, when George Washington was running for his second term, there has been a partisan split in the American Electorate. What had been a united front after ratification of the Constitution in 1789 by seven of the original thirteen states that declared political independence from Great Britain in Congress assembled on July 4, 1776, split into two ideological camps. Federalists led by Alexander Hamilton and Republicans led by Thomas Jefferson, eventually dubbed Democratic Republicans, formed original Right-Left dichotomy in this country. This persists in the present Republican and Democratic parties that dominate American politics in what has evolved into an established two-party system. Briefly, such parties as National Republican, Anti-Masonic, Whig, Progressive, etc. came and went (akin to to an intermittent "flash in the pan," offsetting the usual mainstream parade of donkeys and elephants appearing on the ballot).

Formation of a De-centralized Co-operative Party in America

The only way to bridge a Right-Left Partisan Divide in Congress is to transform the United States into a multi-party Democratic Republic. This needs to be passed by a two-thirds majority of legislatures in the 50 states as an Amendment to the United States Constitution. ~ JDHWB-R

HOW WE BUILD THE BRIDGE TO UNIFY HUMANITY

Created by Darren Sutherland ~ focusedcollection.com

If we have basic knowledge about how to build a bridge, crossing a river for instance, we realize construction is required at each end, on the land, whereas the intention is to meet in the middle and insert a keystone that holds this span together, connecting both ends at same time for purpose of stabilizing both fields. ~ Joseph David Henry Ware Bryan-Royster ~

Declaration: Occupation of Politics in the United States!

(open source document - inspired by a visit to Occupy Boston in Dewey Square on October 15, 2011 and revised following participation in National Gathering Working Group conference call on April 17, 2012)

The one-person one-vote model for election of candidates for service in public office is to be shadowed by local general assemblies within every city and town using value-based consensus democracy for decision-making and mediation for conflict resolution between these alternative bodies and the elected politicians of the United States of America.

The market-based inter-corporate free enterprise economic model for provision of goods and services to a consumer-oriented population is to be shadowed by a locally-driven decentralized network of small farming and cottage industrial co-operatives sharing green energy resources using the solidarity economic method for serving common need.

Local government models in existing incorporated cities and towns is to be shadowed by the creation of urban neighborhood and rural general assemblies committed to evolving into localized intentional communities using consensus decision-making and mediation to create an interdependent co-operative network parallel to inter-corporate monopolization.

Independent candidates for public office, committed to consensus decisions made by local general assemblies, shall run for election on all levels of government within the United States of America as a networked coalition operating as a third party using the one-person one-vote model of the existing political system as authorized by the Constitution.

Organized workshops promoting the formation of local general assemblies, co-operatives for localized production and distribution of goods and services according to the principles of solidarity economics, and the active creation of urban neighborhood and rural intentional communities within cities and towns throughout the United States of America.

Initiative petition drives on all levels of government to abolish corporate personhood and commercial fundraising or lobbying for elected public officials or political candidates as well as leveling the playing field for third party and independent candidates to appear on the ballot for general election within every State of the Union.

Open call for the election of delegates by each local general assembly for formation of a National General Assembly operating as a Third Continental Congress to convene in the City of Philadelphia on July 4, 2012 and petition the United States government for redress of grievances to be determined by consensus within said local general assemblies.  This is not the 99% Declaration.

The National General Assembly shall synthesize these grievances, through the process of consensus, into a National Petition to be ratified by each local general assembly and then sent all members of the United States government based in Washington, D.C. for action by the legislative, judicial, and executive branches in a timely manner.

Open call for a National Gathering of the Occupy Movement representing local General Assemblies from all over the United States of America to be held at Independence Mall in the city of Philadelphia on July 4, 2012 as a demonstration of how consensus democracy in conjunction with solidarity economics is key to the successful occupation of politics and implementation of a nationwide boycott of the inter-corporate state.

All aspects of this Declaration shall be implemented by the people of the United States of America through said coalition of independent candidates for public office running for open seats in Congress, state legislatures, and every local city or town council starting with the Election of 2014 and continuing until corporatocracy has been completely abolished.

This is an open-source document offered by the author to be placed on stack in any and all existing or forming local general assemblies using the consensus decision-making model and discussed for synthesis and modified as necessary to create consensus on the Occupation of Politics everywhere in the United States of America.

Models for this document declaring the Occupation of Politics in the United States of America are the Declaration of the Occupation of New York City, and the Occupy National Gathering Proposal.

Authored and submitted as part of the public commons by Joseph H. Bryan-Royster, Ph.D. Initially presented in time for 1st National Gathering of the Occupy Movement held in Philadelphia July 2nd through July 5th, 2012.

RNC political rhetoric did me in, so  I shut down PC, calling it a night. I made a decision and walked away...

Democratic & Republican partisan dichotomy is so absurd to me now... Time for a third party in the US, one forming a "bridge" for uniting the people  as one & rebuilding the republic!

I have my mission! I know why I incarnated NOW... & I'm hitting the ground "full speed ahead" with a clear road map to guide me.

After Nikola Tesla Proved Wireless Electricity was Possible, A Startup Finally Made it a Reality

RE-POSTED FROM STILLNESS IN THE STORM ARTICLE (08/27/2020)

(Matt Agorist) Nikola Tesla is not the subject of American social studies or science classes. American children do not learn about him in school and this is in spite of the fact that he is considered one of the most influential scientists ever. His visions were motivated by altruism and providing a benefit to all of humanity, not just those who can afford it. One of the ways Tesla envisioned helping the world was providing it with extremely low-cost, or even free, electricity. But with the cost of wires running across continents, this was a futile task. So, Tesla thought outside of the box — getting the wires out of the picture entirely.

by Matt Agorist, August 14th, 2020

Now, his vision is finally coming to fruition.

In 1901 Tesla began his work of a large high-voltage wireless energy transmission station called the Wardenclyffe Tower which was a wireless prototype transmitter for a “World Wireless System” that was to broadcast both information and power worldwide. Over a century ago, Tesla even demonstrated that his technology worked to investors, but they pulled out and the facility was never completed. Establishment science then told the world that his inventions would never work.

But they were wrong.

Fast-forward to 2020 and a startup company named Emrod says it has figured it out.

As Popular Mechanics reports, in a statement, Emrod founder Greg Kushnir says he was motivated by New Zealand’s particular set of skills, à la Liam Neeson in Taken.

“We have an abundance of clean hydro, solar, and wind energy available around the world but there are costly challenges that come with delivering that energy using traditional methods, for example, offshore wind farms or the Cook Strait here in New Zealand requiring underwater cables which are expensive to install and maintain.”

By removing the requirement for electricity to travel through wire, Emrod can fulfill Tesla’s desire to bring energy to those who cannot afford the infrastructure or those who live in difficult terrain.

There are also environmental benefits to the technology as many places uses diesel generators or other fossil fuels to relay electricity from place to place. Emrod’s technology will remove the need for these stations.

“Energy is transmitted through electromagnetic waves over long distances using Emrod’s proprietary beam shaping, metamaterials and rectenna technology,” Emrod explains.

It is safer too.

Emrod uses beams in the ISM (Industrial, Scientific, and Medical) band with frequencies commonly used in WiFi, Bluetooth, and RfID.

Point-to-Point transmission means that power is beamed directly between two points. There is no radiation around the beam, as there is with high voltage wire transmission.

Low power laser safety curtain ensures that the transmission beam immediately shuts down before any transient object (such as a bird or helicopter) can reach the main beam ensuring it never touches anything except clean air.

As PM notes, technology like this would seem implausible because of issues like the loss of signal fidelity over the transmission through the air then through a series of mediating technologies. But Emrod’s relay technology, which it says “refocuses the beam,” doesn’t use any power, and loses almost none.

Kushnir tells New Atlas:

“The efficiency of all the components we’ve developed are pretty good, close to 100 percent. Most of the loss is on the transmitting side. We’re using solid state for the transmitting side, and that’s essentially the same electronic elements you can find in any radar system, or even your microwave at home. Those are at the moment limited to around 70-percent efficiency. But there’s a lot of development going into it, mainly driven by communications, 5G and so on.”

Kushnir says that the original setup will be fairly low, sending a few kilowatts over a few kilometers. However, he says that scaling up in order to send “unfathomable” amounts of energy over longer distances can be done, hypothetically, by making larger rectennas.

While every generation is astonished by the advancement of technology, few generations have predicted technological advancements so far before they happened, and the accuracy with which Tesla did it is mind boggling.

Imagine the world today if Tesla’s visions were allowed to come to fruition had his work not been seized by the government. Sadly, however, that was not the case.

Only two days after his death, the FBI ordered the U.S. Office of Alien Property to seize all of Tesla’s belongings. Tesla’s entire estate from the Hotel New Yorker, and other New York City hotels, was transported to the Manhattan Storage and Warehouse Company under OAP seal.

In an instant, this genius man’s entire life’s work became the property of the government to further their militaristic escapades.

However, not all was lost; as TFTP reported, several new geniuses would rise up and follow in Tesla’s footsteps. People like Jim Murray would diligently devote their lives to understanding this great man, and in turn, create paradigm shifting technologies like the SERPS (Switched Energy Resonance Power Supply) device.

This highly specialized electronic circuit has the ability to “Magnify” the effective power applied to it by nearly 50 times. When Jim coupled his device with his friend Paul Babcock’s patented ultrafast five nanosecond switching technology, they achieved a 4790% increase in electrical power compared to the input. This type of performance, if commercialized, would cause the largest electric utility companies to shake in their boots.

It’s been nearly 8 decades since his death, and through companies like Emron, Tesla is still helping to make the world a better place — in spite of government schools making no mention of his contributions to humanity.

Stillness in the Storm Editor: Why did we post this?

The news is important to all people because it is where we come to know new things about the world, which leads to the development of more life goals that lead to life wisdom. The news also serves as a social connection tool, as we tend to relate to those who know about and believe the things we do. With the power of an open truth-seeking mind in hand, the individual can grow wise and the collective can prosper.

2-Card Reading/Living at Home vs. "Life" in The Construct

Past Meets Future in Present: Rider-Waite-Tarot

Imagery used in this analysis was drawn from the Universal Waite Tarot Deck; distributed exclusively by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

Intuitive interpretations by Joseph H. Bryan-Royster, Ph.D.

King of Wands - Honesty

This is generally a positive image when it is considered in a counseling session. This archetype represents the quality of honesty. A person who is conscientious, mature in the wisdom of life, and also friendly in nature. He is sympathetic and his educational background, through the experiential process of life-learning, enables him to share the fruits of his wisdom with others. He is devoted and known by his fatherly image. His appearance in a counseling session may signify some good news concerning other people and/or an inheritance in the near future. This image is considered to be favorable. The King of Wands is prosperous in his own right, and therefore is a good example for monetary management. His honesty proves that his acquisition of this material wealth was done according to "The Golden Rule." Should this image be representative of an individual in the life of the client, the person is usually married and may be considered to be a gentleman in how he functions socially. He is generous in his nature and so does not hesitate to give aid when it is needed by another. He is active in all of his positive qualities and is a person upon whom the Client may rely when it comes to matters of honesty, sympathy, devotion, prosperity, generosity, etc. He sets a good example.

12 - THE HANGED MAN - Suspension and Mental Transition (Lamed; Water, Neptune)

Reverses Mental Polarity....

Reversal of perception; The process of an alternation of orientation regarding Belief. A mental Focus Shift from external images to those generated within one's True Self, the Mind of God of which we are all Aspects. The upside-down position of this Archetype signifies the Method of changing one's perception from that of receiving external guidance to receipt of insightful Instruction from God's Presence within one's Being. The figure depicted is in reverse, whereas if he were looking at the reflection of the surrounding landscape on the surface of a quiet pond it would appear upright. This is the True position of Reality, and the external representation thereof is in actuality the world viewed through reflected Light. The Hanged Man shows reversal of mental polarity; one must literally "hang upside down" in order to change one's thought patterns from receipt of what they believe as True that is offered via outside sources, i.e. other people, individual life events, etc. Images presented by others and external events are varied in degree from Negative to Positive in random sequence. Belief in this incoming information creates a proverbial "roller-coaster ride" through Life with highs and lows; the degrees of elation or depression dependent upon the quality of the images received. The Halo around the figure's head is the Meditative state of Mind representative of suspended animation which opens the door to receipt of internal Guidance and creative motivation directly from the Universal Source. PARALLEL ARCHETYPES: Meditation, Suspended Animation.

State of Mind: Life in suspension, Transition, Change, Reversal of the mind, Reversal of one's way of life, Apathy and dullness, Abandonment, Renunciation, The changing of life's forces, Period of respite between significant events, Redemption through Sacrifice, Repentance, Readjustment, Regeneration, Approach of new life forces, Surrender, Abeyance, Indecision, Lack of progress, Outside factors having strong influences, Suffering, Unwillingness to make the necessary effort

The Georgia Guidestones ~ Big Brother is Watching You!

The Georgia Guidestones are a granite monument erected in 1980 in Elbert County, Georgia, in the United States. A set of 10 guidelines is inscribed on the structure in eight modern languages and a shorter message is inscribed at the top of the structure in four ancient language scripts.

Coordinates 34°13′55″N 82°53′40″WCoordinates: 34°13′55″N 82°53′40″W
Location Elbert County, Georgia, US
Material Granite
Height 19 ft 3 in (5.87 m)
Opening date March 22, 1980

The monument stands at an approximate elevation of 750 feet (230 m) above sea level, about 90 miles (140 km) east of Atlanta, 45 miles (72 km) from Athens, Georgia and 9 miles (14 km) north of the center of the city of Elberton.

One slab stands in the center, with four arranged around it. A capstone lies on top of the five slabs, which are astronomically aligned. An additional stone tablet, which is set in the ground a short distance to the west of the structure, provides some notes on the history and purpose of the guidestones. The structure is sometimes referred to as an "American Stonehenge". The monument is 19 feet 3 inches (5.87 m) tall, made from six granite slabs weighing 237,746 pounds (107,840 kg) in all.[2] The anonymity of the guidestones' authors and their apparent advocacy of population control, eugenics, and internationalism have made them a target for controversy and conspiracy theory.

History

In June 1979, a man using the pseudonym Robert C. Christian approached the Elberton Granite Finishing Company on behalf of "a small group of loyal Americans", and commissioned the structure. Christian explained that the stones would function as a compass, calendar, and clock, and should be capable of withstanding catastrophic events. Joe Fendley of Elberton Granite assumed that Christian was "a nut" and attempted to discourage him by giving a quote several times higher than any project the company had taken, explaining that the guidestones would require additional tools and consultants. Christian accepted the quote. When arranging payment, Christian explained that he represented a group which had been planning the guidestones for 20 years, and which intended to remain anonymous.

Christian delivered a scale model of the guidestones and ten pages of specifications. The five-acre land was apparently purchased by Christian on October 1, 1979, from farm owner Wayne Mullinex. Mullinex and his children were given lifetime cattle grazing rights on the guidestones site. The monument was unveiled on March 22, 1980, before an audience variously described as 100 or 400 people. Christian later transferred ownership of the land and the guidestones to Elbert County.

The stones defaced with polyurethane paint and graffiti

In 2008, the stones were defaced with polyurethane paint and graffiti with slogans such as "Death to the new world order". Wired magazine called the defacement "the first serious act of vandalism in the guidestones' history". In September 2014, an employee of the Elbert County maintenance department contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation when the stones were vandalized with graffiti including the phrase "I Am Isis, goddess of love".

Description

Inscriptions

A message consisting of a set of ten guidelines or principles is engraved on the Georgia Guidestones[8] in eight different languages, one language on each face of the four large upright stones. Moving clockwise around the structure from due north, these languages are: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Traditional Chinese, and Russian.

Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.
Unite humanity with a living new language.
Rule passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason.
Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
Balance personal rights with social duties.
Prize truth — beauty — love — seeking harmony with the infinite.
Be not a cancer on the earth — Leave room for nature — Leave room for nature.

Explanatory tablet

An explanatory tablet is set alongside the stones
A few feet to the west of the monument, an additional granite ledger has been set level with the ground. This tablet identifies the structure and the languages used on it, lists various facts about the size, weight, and astronomical features of the stones, the date it was installed, and the sponsors of the project. It also speaks of a time capsule buried under the tablet, but spaces on the stone reserved for filling in the dates on which the capsule was buried and is to be opened have not been inscribed, so it is uncertain if the time capsule was put in place.

The complete text of the explanatory tablet is detailed below. The tablet is somewhat inconsistent with respect to punctuation, and misspells the word "pseudonym". The original spelling, punctuation, and line breaks in the text have been preserved in the transcription which follows (letter case is not). At the top center of the tablet is written:

The Georgia Guidestones
Center cluster erected March 22, 1980

Immediately below this is the outline of a square, inside which is written:

Let these be guidestones to an Age of Reason

Around the edges of the square are written translations to four ancient languages, one per edge. Starting from the top and proceeding clockwise, they are: Babylonian (in cuneiform script), Classical Greek, Sanskrit and Ancient Egyptian (in hieroglyphs).

Astronomical features

The four outer stones are oriented to mark the limits of the 18.6 year lunar declination cycle.[9] The center column features a hole drilled at an angle from one side to the other, through which can be seen the North Star, a star whose position changes only very gradually over time. The same pillar has a slot carved through it which is aligned with the Sun's solstices and equinoxes. A 7⁄8in (22 mm) aperture in the capstone allows a ray of sun to pass through at noon each day, shining a beam on the center stone indicating the day of the year.

Interpretations

Yoko Ono praised the inscribed messages as "a stirring call to rational thinking", while Wired stated that unspecified opponents have labeled them as the "Ten Commandments of the Antichrist".

The guidestones have become a subject of interest for conspiracy theorists. One of them, an activist named Mark Dice, demanded that the guidestones "be smashed into a million pieces, and then the rubble used for a construction project", claiming that the guidestones are of "a deep Satanic origin", and that R. C. Christian belongs to "a Luciferian secret society" related to the "New World Order".  At the unveiling of the monument, a local minister proclaimed that he believed the monument was "for sun worshipers, for cult worship and for devil worship". Others have suggested that the stones were commissioned by the Rosicrucians, with conspiracy theorist Jay Weidner observing that the pseudonym of the man who commissioned the stones – "R. C. Christian" – resembles Rose Cross Christian, or Christian Rosenkreuz, the founder of the Rosicrucian Order.  Alex Jones's film Endgame: Blueprint for Global Enslavement proposes that the guidestones are a harbinger of self-appointed elites who intend on exterminating most of the world's population.

The most widely agreed-upon interpretation of the stones is that they describe the basic concepts required to rebuild a devastated civilization. Author Brad Meltzer notes that the stones were built in 1979 at the height of the Cold War, and thus argues that they may have been intended as a message to the possible survivors of a nuclear World War III. The engraved suggestion to keep humanity's population below 500 million could have been made under the assumption that war had already reduced humanity below this number.

The guidestones were briefly shown and discussed in the 1986 documentary film Sherman's March, and were featured extensively in a 2012 episode of Mysteries at the Museum, a "Monumental Mysteries Special" featuring Don Wildman.

May 4th, 1974: Henry's Artworkshop is Open for Business!

Richard, the owner of house at #54 Centre Street, Nantucket (presently an annex to the Jared Coffin hotel) rented me dirt floor end of his cellar to use as a sign-making studio. I moved into this space, placing pallets over the dirt and set up two saw-horses with an unfinished hollow door across the top, as my worktable. Inky, my "Hallowe'en Cat" visited my shop walking with me on a red leash only once. She disappeared while outside my rented cottage on Washington Street extension on the patio, chasing june bugs. The date was May 15th: four years to the day since my father passed away without me having a conscious memory of him, as I was raised by Mom and her second husband, the only man whom I knew as Dad, who raised me with as much love as he would have given to his own son. Mom and Dad birthed two children together... a brother and a sister who live in California, the state where I was born.

EARTH DAY IN 1970: BIRTH OF THE GREEN MOVEMENT

3-Day Livestream celebrates 50th Anniversary of Earth Day!

Earth Day 1970

President Richard Nixon and First Lady Pat Nixon plant a tree on the White House South Lawn to recognize the first Earth Day.

The first Earth Day celebrations took place in two thousand colleges and universities, roughly ten thousand primary and secondary schools, and hundreds of communities across the United States. More importantly, it "brought 20 million Americans out into the spring sunshine for peaceful demonstrations in favor of environmental reform." It now is observed in 192 countries, and coordinated by the nonprofit Earth Day Network, chaired by the first Earth Day 1970 organizer Denis Hayes, according to whom Earth Day is now "the largest secular holiday in the world, celebrated by more than a billion people every year." Walt Kelly created an anti-pollution poster featuring his comic strip character Pogo with the quotation "We have met the enemy and he is us" to promote the 1970 Earth Day. Environmental groups have sought to make Earth Day into a day of action to change human behavior and provoke policy changes.

New York City

In the winter of 1969–1970, a group of students met at Columbia University to hear Denis Hayes talk about his plans for Earth Day. Among the group were Fred Kent, Pete Grannis, and Kristin and William Hubbard. This group agreed to head up the New York City activities within the national movement. Fred Kent took the lead in renting an office and recruiting volunteers. "The big break came when Mayor Lindsay agreed to shut down Fifth Avenue for the event. A giant cheer went up in the office on that day," according to Kristin Hubbard (now Kristin Alexandre). 'From that time on we used Mayor Lindsay's offices and even his staff. I was Speaker Coordinator but had tremendous help from Lindsay staffer Judith Crichton."

In addition to shutting down Fifth Avenue, Mayor John Lindsay made Central Park available for Earth Day. In Union Square, New York Times estimated crowds of up to 20,000 people at any given time and, perhaps, more than 100,000 over the course of the day. Since Manhattan was also the home of NBC, CBS, ABC, The New York Times, Time, and Newsweek, it provided the best possible anchor for national coverage from their reporters throughout the country.

Philadelphia

U.S. Senator Edmund Muskie was the keynote speaker on Earth Day in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. Other notable attendees included consumer protection activist and presidential candidate Ralph Nader; Landscape Architect Ian McHarg; Nobel prize-winning Harvard Biochemist, George Wald; U.S. Senate Minority Leader, Hugh Scott; and poet, Allen Ginsberg.

Earth Day Live

Earth Day Live is a three-day livestream commemorating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. The event will be streamed online as part of efforts to promote social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is being referred to as the largest online mass mobilization in history.

Planning

The event will be run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET on April 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. Event is organized by youth climate activists, and will feature Joaquin Phoenix, Moby, Patricia Arquette, Jane Fonda, Robby Romero, Al Gore, Stacey Abrams in conversation with Climate change activists, scientists, and journalists. The event will also feature performances from musicians such as Jason Mraz, Angélique Kidjo, Emily Wells, Aimee Mann, Ted Leo, Jack Johnson, Questlove, Talib Kweli, among others.

Themes & Goals

Future Coalition executive director Katie Eder, who heads up the nine youth-led organizations that are coordinating the event, says that Earth Day activism had to be rethought due to technological advances in modern times.

“It’s a time to really rethink our strategy, we are really looking at this as a way to reimagine what a social movement can look like in a digital age.” said Katie Eder.

The event focusses not only on climate change and environment like the traditional Earth Day, but also on society's ability to combat the effects of climate change, such as the COVID-19 Epidemic.

“It’s not just about the environment and the climate,” “It’s also about building a society and an economy that’s going to take care of the people who’ve been affected by this crisis, the people who are on the front lines of this crisis, whether that’s through health care efforts or economic efforts.” said Naina Agrawal-Hardin,vement, one of nine youth led organizations organizing the event.

Marianne Williamson gets adoring crowds and sells millions of books. Can she make a mark on the presidential field?

By Holly Bailey of The Washington Post
May 31, 2019 at 3:17 p.m. CDT

FAIRFIELD, Iowa — Marianne Williamson, perhaps the only presidential candidate who’s been described as a “high priestess of pop religion,” sat barefoot on an antique Chinese opium bed in the home of a former Miss Universe who has relocated to the cornfields of Iowa as a follower of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Candles flickered and a statue of the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesh was moved aside so Williamson, 66, immaculate in a long silk jacket, could address about 30 people. “We have a traditional political establishment that treats the symptoms but doesn’t treat the causes, that waters the leaves but doesn’t water the roots,” Williamson told them.

In the sprawling, unconventional Democratic presidential field of 23, Williamson boasts a biography that, by her estimation, makes her a standout contender with unparalleled credentials to guide America through this era of anger, anxiety and political chaos. The author of more than a dozen self-help books, including seven New York Times bestsellers, she is a longtime spiritual adviser to Oprah Winfrey, and her followers show up by the thousands to her motivational workshops in Los Angeles.

Williamson boasts 2.6 million Twitter followers — more than most of the 2020 contenders — and says the idea of a presidential run came to her in a moment of “total clarity” that a message of love and calm was needed to soothe a troubled nation.

Williamson will appear in at least two Democratic debates this summer to make her pitch to a national audience, after leveraging her fame to amass enough donations to qualify. Still, unlike another unorthodox non-politician candidate, tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang, who has drawn big crowds and built a political following, Williamson has thus far failed to gain traction in the campaign, a matter of considerable frustration to her.

“I am a serious woman, and I have had a serious career,” she said in a recent interview. “Why won’t people take me seriously?”

When she decided to run for the White House, Williamson said, she didn’t kid herself that it would be easy. “How will I take the inevitable mockery? How will I take the inevitable embarrassment?” Williamson said, describing her initial thoughts. “I didn’t do this to make a fool of myself.”

She felt it was worth the risk to spread a message that she says should be the Democrats’ answer to President Trump: A country riven by anger and anxiety needs a spiritual awakening led by a serious thinker who knows how to heal emotional hurt. “Where did political experience get us anyway?” Williamson asks voters, a question not dissimilar from that asked by Trump, the real estate marketer and reality TV star, when he launched his unlikely run for the presidency.

But even some of Williamson’s friends appear wary of supporting the presidential bid of a woman who has never held political office or worked in government, and whose career has focused more on inner peace than foreign policy.

That includes Winfrey, a close friend who made Williamson a star when she invited her on her show in 1992. Winfrey was publicly enthusiastic over former Rep. Beto O’Rourke’s presidential run, and recently said she was reading the book by South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, but she has been silent on Williamson’s bid.

Williamson has said she sent Winfrey an email about her presidential run, but she declined to comment further.

Dennis Kucinich, the former Ohio congressman who has considered Williamson a close friend for nearly 40 years, said he is also staying out of the race for now. Though he is fond of Williamson and her message, he’s staying neutral because he also likes another candidate in the race, though he declined to say which one.

Kucinich, who unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2004 and 2008, said Williamson will have an even harder time breaking through than he did.

“I came at it with four decades of political experience,” Kucinich said. “She’s not only having problems with the media and political establishment, Marianne’s challenging a polarized society, which offers its own degree of difficulty.”

But as Williamson tells it, her decision to run wasn’t really a decision. More like an epiphany.

By that point, she had already come a long way. A Houston native who studied drama and philosophy in college and once worked as a cabaret singer, Williamson early on became enamored of a book called “A Course in Miracles,” which argues the greatest miracle is a life of love and forgiveness. She moved to Los Angeles, where she began speaking about the book to packed audiences.

Williamson soon wrote a book of her own, “A Return to Love,” which attracted the attention of Winfrey, who said she had never been more personally moved by a book. That and her charisma helped Williamson become a spiritual guru to celebrities such as Cher, spreading her fame even further.

During the AIDS epidemic, she founded Project Angel Food to bring meals to people stricken with the disease. Along the way, many of the ideas that were considered fringe when she first started talking about them, like mindfulness and meditation, have become multibillion-dollar industries.

As she evolved into an increasingly public figure, she became intrigued by the world of politics.

In 2014, Williamson launched a failed bid for a Los Angeles-area congressional seat, attracting support from boldface names such as Kim Kardashian, Deepak Chopra, Katy Perry and Alanis Morissette, who wrote a campaign song for the spiritual guru. When she came in a distant fourth, Williamson said she plunged into depression and thought she would never try for public office again.

But when you are called, you are called. That’s how Williamson on a recent Tuesday evening found herself in the town of Fairfield, in deeply rural Iowa, making her pitch that she is the best Democrat to take on Trump.

“Who the hell are they to say who is a serious candidate?” Williamson said of the political and media establishments, which have largely ignored her candidacy. “Who are they to say ‘you know who’ is a long shot?”

Since the late 1970s, Fairfield, a sleepy farm community, has been an unlikely mecca for practitioners of Transcendental Meditation, attracting those who seek a life of deeper consciousness. Many spend time in one of the two 25,000-square-foot golden meditation domes on the edge of town, where the Maharishis run a management school for practicing yogis.

Fairfield is the kind of enlightened place where Williamson hopes her candidacy might catch fire. And Williamson is serious enough about winning the Iowa caucuses that she recently moved to Des Moines.

But even in Fairfield she hasn’t been able to catch a break. Several other presidential candidates — including Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) and Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), who talks often about the role meditation plays in his life — have campaigned here as well.

After being praised by former miss universe Margareta Arvidsson as someone who could bring “consciousness” to the national debate, Williamson wasted no time making her case.

In an era of extreme polarization, she said, the country cannot move forward without addressing on a deeper level why people are so divided. “A better version of the same old, same old isn’t going to save our democracy,” Williamson said. She warned that a “death spiral” for democracy could continue even if a Democrat wins, but that she wasn’t convinced a traditional candidacy could even beat Trump.

Many attendees liked the message. But they were also still abuzz about Sanders’s visit to Fairfield a few days earlier, and even Arvidsson, who said she was anxious to see Williamson’s ideas projected to a larger audience, was not committing to anybody yet.

“Did you see Bernie the other day?” she said. “Wasn’t it great?”

It’s not her first experience of not being taken seriously. Throughout her career, while many embraced Williamson’s message, others have mocked her as a shameless shaman or a kook. And now she is being mostly ignored by the press and her rivals for the Democratic nomination.

Williamson openly worries that her place on the debate stage could be taken away amid an ever-widening field.

“I had thought naively that I would have my 15 minutes, like they gave to Herman Cain or Ben Carson — they’ll give me my 15 minutes, and I’ll do so much with those 15 minutes,” she said, referring to candidates who flared and faded in previous presidential contests. “But they have not given me even that.”

In 2016, Williamson endorsed Sanders for president. She still speaks warmly of Sanders and echoes his complaint that the Democratic Party rigged the 2016 nomination to favor Hillary Clinton.

As she mounts her own presidential run, Williamson is playing off Sanders in another way. Her campaign slogan is “Join the evolution” — which bears more than a passing similarity to Sanders’s “revolution,” though her campaign insists it is not related.

Williamson says she hopes to be “an agent of awakening” in the Democratic field, suggesting a recognition that she might not be the nominee and an awareness of the difficulties facing an unconventional candidate as the Democratic field narrows.

But part of her is still hoping for a miracle, like the ones she has preached about for years.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you — then you win,” she said. “Sounds good to me.”
